1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files sent to the user by the website visited. They are stored on the computer’s hard disk, thus allowing the website to recognize users and store certain information about them, in order to allow or improve the service offered.
There are different types of cookies. Some are necessary to navigate the Site, others have different purposes such as ensuring internal security, administering the system, performing statistical analysis, understanding which sections of the Site are of most interest to users or offering a personalized visit to the Site.
The Site uses technical cookies and not profiling cookies. The foregoing refers both to the user’s computer and to any other device that the user can use to connect to the Site.
Technical cookies
Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of transmitting a communication on an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service.
They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or manager of the website.
They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which guarantee normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or authenticate to access reserved areas); analytics cookies, assimilated to technical cookies when used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site; functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria (for example, the language, the products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to the user.
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are designed to create profiles relating to the user and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the internet.
The consent of the interested party is required for the use of profiling cookies. According to provision no. 229 of 8 May 2014, the user must be able to authorize or deny consent to the installation of profiling cookies if they are present.
In the case of third-party cookies, the site does not have direct control over individual cookies and cannot control them (it cannot install them directly or delete them). However, it is possible to manage these cookies through the browser settings (follow the instructions below), or the sites indicated in the “Cookie Management” section.
Disabling cookies may limit the ability to use the Site and prevent you from fully benefiting from the features and services on the Site. To decide which to accept and which to refuse, a description of the cookies used on the Site is provided below.
2. Types of cookies used
First-party cookies
First-party cookies (i.e. cookies that belong to the publisher’s site that created them) are set by the website visited by the user, whose address appears in the URL window. The use of these cookies allows us to operate the site efficiently and track visitor behavior patterns.
Third-party cookies
Third-party cookies are set by a domain other than the one visited by the user. If a user visits a site and a different company sends the information using that site, these are third-party cookies.
Session cookies
The so-called ‘session cookies’ are stored temporarily and are deleted when the user closes the browser. If the
user registers on the Site, it can use cookies that collect personal data in order to identify the user during subsequent visits and to facilitate access – login to the Site (for example by saving the user’s username and password) and navigation on the same. Furthermore, Ecogeo S.r.L. uses cookies for system administration purposes. The Site may contain links to other sites. Ecogeo S.r.L. has no access or control over cookies, web beacons and other tracking technologies used on third-party sites that the user can access from the Site, on the availability, on any content and material that is published or obtained through such sites and on the related methods of processing of personal data; Ecogeo S.r.L. in this regard, given the amount of such third-party sites, expressly declines any related liability. The user should check the privacy policy of third-party sites accessed from the Site to find out the conditions applicable to the processing of personal data since the Privacy Policy of Ecogeo S.r.L. applies only to the Site as defined above.
Persistent cookies
Persistent cookies are stored on the user’s device between browser sessions, allowing the user’s preferences or actions on a site to be remembered. They can be used for various purposes, for example to remember preferences and choices when using the Site.
Essential cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the functioning of the Site. Without the use of these cookies, some parts of the Site would not work. They include, for example, cookies that allow access to protected areas of the Site. These cookies do not collect information for marketing purposes and cannot be deactivated.
Functional cookies
These cookies are used to recognize a user who returns to the Site. They allow you to personalize content and remember preferences (for example, the selected language or region). These cookies do not collect information that can identify the user. All information collected is anonymous.
